Heads Or Tails?

The other night, our oldest boy Brady was tossing a coin in the air. As he flipped it he watched it closely as it spun end over end. He would then catch it in his hand and ask me to guess whether it was heads or tails.
The odds of many things in our lives are just like that, heads or tails.  The choice is ours to make and its either going to be a good choice or a less than good choice.  The reason I say it like that is the difference between many choices in our lives doesn't always come down to good or bad--black or white.  There are oftentimes choices that are better than a particular one but both are good, nonetheless.  Common sense is the key in all of this.  I believe that many times we are on the right track but we get caught up in being so 'letter of the law' that we miss good opportunities to make correct and sound choices.
Sometimes its not as cut and dry as heads and tails but Brady tossing the coin allowed me to look closer, and from a different perspective.

I'll Go, Even Give My Life

I talked with a friend who told me about the news of the death of a cousin, in Afghanistan. My heart felt saddened by his loss. I have thought about this man's ultimate sacrifice. I can't help but think about the happiness I feel to live in the land of the free. We are so blessed. Tomorrow, we celebrate the birth of this country. Those freedoms come from men and women who both live and died. To each one of them I give my sincere thanks!

Drive Because We're Free

I am so thankful that I live in the United States of America, where the freedoms we enjoy are without number.  That is the case today.  We are able to leave and travel without any problems.  We enjoy the blessing of having vehicles that run well and that we can count on to get us to the places that we want to go.  We have family that care for us and take an interest in our lives.  I feel grateful to be a citizen of a land of great promise.  God bless America!

I Love This Land

When you stop and think about the abundant blessings that we are afforded as citizens of America, it forces you to better realize what freedoms we really have. At this writing it feels good to see my parents and to enjoy a couple of days with those who are part of our family. I am sincerely thankful for Becky and her support in my life. I am thankful for her willingness to sacrifice because she loves our family. I am thankful for the freedom to come and go as we please. There are no border patrols from state to state. We drive until we cross the border and then we enter into a neighboring state without a word even spoken. I am so grateful to live in a country where I can go to sleep and not have to worry about war and various other disrruptions. These are a few of the blessings that enrich my life. I am so grateful to live in this land.
